A lot of clients rent in Puerto Vallarta before they buy \u2014 it’s a smart way to test a neighborhood before committing. But most deals here don’t fall apart over price. They fall apart because someone showed up to see apartments without the paperwork a landlord actually needs. Here’s what to have ready before you start touring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The traditional fiador requirement assumes you already know a property-owning local \u2014 which most newcomers don’t. In practice, Puerto Vallarta’s rental market has adapted around this. Landlords renting to expats commonly accept one of these instead:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Furnished condos aimed at the expat and seasonal market are, by far, the easiest path in \u2014 often just first month plus one or two months’ deposit, no fiador at all. Unfurnished, year-round local rentals are where the traditional guarantor requirement shows up hardest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
